A handful of people shape a civilization. There would be no electricity without Michael Faraday, and no communications technologies without the likes of Claude Shannon. Thomas Hobbes and Spinoza shaped our political and social structures, and the American Constitution was based on the works of Hobbes. Just a handful of people shape things, with everyone else exclusively absorbed in their animal existence - survival and procreation.
